OFFICIAL RULES

Rule 1 - Organization
The 19th edition of the Semi-Marathon International de Nice will be organized on the 18th april, 2010 beneath the aegis of the City of Nice by Azur Sport Organisation, association Loi 1901, affiliated to the French Federation of Athletism (FFA).

Rule 2 - Course
The career respects the current International regulations for road races (IAAF) as well as the ones of the national requirements outlined in the road race charter FFA.
The races starts will be launched according the below schedules on the next 18th april, 2010 in Nice, Promenade des Anglais face to the Théâtre de Verdure. All the arrivals will be judged in Nice on Quai des Etats-Unis.

The official starts will be :
- 8.30 am : 2 km P’tits Champions
- 8.45 am : La Niçoise
- 9.30 am : 10 and 21.1 km

Rule 3 – Registrations
All the races are opened to the licencied and none licencied runners according the age limits and the following conditions:

- 2 Km P’tits Champions : borned in 2000 and before
- 5 Km Race - La Niçoise : borned in 1996 and before
- 2,5 Km Walk - La Niçoise : without restriction
- 10 Km : borned in 1994 and before
- 21,1 Km : borned in 1992 and before

Nevertheless, the participation to the race (excepted for walk formula in la Niçoise) is submitted to the presentation of your medical certificate on the Expo when you pick up your race number.

Thus, in vertue of the current rules, only the runners with the below-cited documents :
- A medical certificate (in English is available too) mentioning that you present none contraindication to the practice of running or athletism in competition issued less than one year by the day of the race. This document must be conserved by the organization for one year as for a proof in case of any accident. None other document will be accepted.

All the missing documents must be sent by mail before the next 9th april, 2010 until midnight to the following adress :

The n° 99-22 law, relating to the protection of health and anti-dope fight for athletes was voted in the National Assemblee on the 23th march 1999.
Due to these new dispositions, all the French and Foreign runners will have the obligation to provide a valid medical certificate delivered by an oficial doctor after a medical examination.


Rule 4 – Preferential bib : 10 & 21,1 Km
The organization proposes to the competitors 2 preferential SAS in exchange of a performance proof completed over a similar distance in 2009 or in 2010.
21,1 Km :
SAS 1 : Men sub :1H17 & Women sub :1H45
SAS 2 : Men sub : 1H17 & Women sub < 2H00
10 Km :
SAS 1 : Men sub : 0H35 & Women < 0H43


Rule 5 – Classification
« Scratch » general classification as well as categories will give separate classification in according to the regulation of the road race charter (FFA). We remind you that some controls will be effectuated during the race to insure optimum race regularities.


Rule 6 – Registrations
Each entry is considered as non-transferable and final and implies full acceptance of the rules. No refund will be made whatever the reasons. No registration transfer will be allowed, whaterver the reasons. Any person retroceding his bib to a third party will be held responsible in case of an accident arising or provoked by this last person during the competition. The organization is exempt from all responsability in case of an accident in this type of situation. The bib must be entirely visible and worn during the whole race.

Rule 7 – Collection of the start numbers
The collection of the start numbers will be done on the presentation of an identity card and with the medical certificate on the Expo located Jardins Albert 1er, Promenade des Anglais in Nice on :
- Friday 16th april, 2010 from 2 pm to 7 pm
- Saturday 17th april, 2010 from 9am to 7 pm
- Sunday 18th april, 2010 from 7.30 am to 8.30 am

None race number will be sent by mail.


Rule 8 – The official jury
The FFA constitutes an oficial jury whose decision is final. The jury is assisted by official race judges and race stewards appointed by the FFA.
Refreshment posts will be located every 5 km from the km 5 and on the finishing line. Sponge posts will be located every 5 km from km 7.5. The runner declares on his honour to not anticipate the start and to run the whole race before to cross the finish line.

Rule 9 – Security
The organization and the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes will insure the security of the runners and the spectators during the event. Medical safety will be under control of a security association agree by the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes through security posts located every 5 km. Medical services may stop any competitor from continuing the race for medical reasons. Every runner put ‘out of the race’ by medical services and who wish to pursue the race, will run under his own responsability in case of accident. The organization will be exempt from all responsability in case of an accident of this type of situation.


Rule 10 – Limit race time
The runners will be permitted up to 3h00 for competition of the course up to the finish line. After the end of the race, vehicule has passed, competitors should respect the Highway Code and be considered 'out of the race' and the organization will be exempt from all responsability in case of any accident in this type of situation.


Rule 11 – ChampionChip system
The ChampionChip system will be used for timing by a person afiliated to the FFA. Each competitor(except for walk formula) will be given a chip when collecting race number which will be activated in an automatically way when the start line will be crossed. The chip will be used as control system on different check point positioned on the course. Competitors failing to follow the course will be disqualified. Chips must be returned to the organization after the race. In case of withdrawal or cancellation, chips must be sent to the organization 15 days after the race, at the latest. Each non-returned chip will be charged 15 euros and the competitor must be dsqualified from the event.


Rule 12 – Insurances
Civil liability : The organization has taken out a civil liability insurance policy in accordance with current legislation. This contract insures against damage caused by members of the organization and every competitor from the Semi-Marathon International de Nice. Written proof can be provided upon request.

Individual accident : The organization highly recommands to the runners who did have personal insurance covering the corporal damages in particular for the non-licensed runners who belong to the sporting federation, to subscribe to an individual ‘insurance accident’ for their participation to the race.


Rule 13 – Protection of personal pictures
Competitors expressly and exclusively grant to ASO and its assigns, the irrevocable right to use a competitor’s name, voice, likeness, biography, factually or otherwise in connection with the production, the distribution and exploitation of the pictures related to the Marathon , world-wide in any and all device, media, whatsoever, non known or hereafter known, for the entire duration of the protection country, and currently existing of future international conventions, including eventual prolongations which may be made of this duration.


Rule 14 – Movement on the route
Bicyclettes or motorised vehicules are strictly forbidden on the course except for the organization staff.


Rule 15 - Abandonment
Each runner who want to abandon, will have the obligation to go to provision posts or safety posts to deliver his race number and his chip to the organization staff.


Rule 16 – Reward Ceremony
The Reward Ceremony will be organized in the start area on the Sunday 18th april, 2010 from 11.30 am on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Reward 21,1 Km :
- Scratch classification men and women
- Classification 1/2/3 men and wome per category
- Classification for disabled persons

Reward 10 Km :
- Scratch Classification men and women
- Scratch classification1/2/3 men and women per category

The prices will be delivered only to the runners who will be present in the Ceremony, except for the runners who will be away because of the anti-dope controling.


Rule 17 – Wheelchair athletes
The 21.1 km is opened to the wheelchair athletes. All the French wheelchair athletes licensied at “Federation Française Handisport” will benefit from a postponed start. The runnersaffected by other disabilities will start at 9.30 am obligatory as the other runners.


Rule 18 - CNIL
In conformity with the law of the 6th january 1978 adressing computing and liberty, you possess a legal right to access and to rectify your personal information refering to you. By our intermediate you could be lead up to receive any proposals from other business groups or associations.


The participation to the distinct races in the Semi-Marathon International de Nice implicates the express acceptance of the official rules by every runner.
